Even though the new year is well underway, 2025 is set to bring transformative trends and developments for the Avnu Alliance. With new Certification programs, expanded adoption of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) across industries, and the continued evolution of converged networking, this year promises to be pivotal. In this blog, we explore the key advancements shaping Avnu in 2025.
Milan: Strengthening Its Position in ProAV
2024 was a landmark year for Milan. Avnu members worked together to drive Milan’s adoption across the ProAV industry, ensuring seamless and reliable networking experiences. As reports from esteemed system engineers continued to affirm Milan’s ease of use and robustness, this momentum is set to accelerate in 2025.
This progression has already been recognized in the new year, with Milan receiving the Best of Show award at ISE 2025 in the Mix category, highlighting Milan as the most innovative and outstanding professional audio solution and marking a significant milestone in its ambitious roadmap.
The event itself saw switch manufacturers and ProAV companies showcasing solutions to cater to the demand for convergence across enterprise solutions, stadiums, and other integrated applications. With this surge in adoption, new sectors—including music production—are expected to join the Milan ecosystem. Additionally, Milan’s reach is likely to expand beyond premium speakers and mixing consoles to include a broader range of ProAV devices.
As Milan cements itself as the go-to solution for live events and installations, the market could see an influx of turnkey solutions, hardware, and software modules. These advancements will enable manufacturers without in-house networking expertise to bring Milan-enabled products to the market faster and more effectively. This growth aligns with the increasing need to integrate ProAV systems with other media and data traffic on a unified network, further strengthening Milan’s presence in 2025.
TSN: Advancing Certification and Adoption
TSN is experiencing a similar momentum. In 2024, Avnu launched two certification programs—Component Certification and Switch Certification – marking significant steps toward broad TSN adoption.
Looking ahead, 2025 could bring major progress in device testing and certification for the IEC/IEEE 60802 TSN profile for Industrial Automation, alongside a common 60802 test specification across the industry through the TIACC initiative, where Avnu Alliance is one of the organizations leading the unified test plan development efforts. Avnu’s TSN components will play a key role in ensuring compliance, conformance, and interoperability within the framework. Industrial component tests and certification will accompany this, providing the basis for the broader adoption of the TSN capabilities in the industrial automation market.
In addition to these advancements, wireless TSN, based on Wi-Fi and 5G, will continue to develop, providing end-to-end performance insights, detailed evaluations, and valuable performance metrics for end-users. These developments will further enhance TSN’s toolbox and applications across industries.
Expanding Converged Networking Across Industries
Avnu has long championed the expansion of converged networking to meet the growing data demands of different industries. In 2025, this vision is looking like becoming a reality.
The Avnu Automotive Work Group is poised to introduce new specifications, testing, and certification programs that will accelerate TSN and converged network adoption in the automotive sector. By incorporating additional components and capabilities, Avnu aims to enable software-defined vehicles through converged networking, advancing next-generation automotive connectivity.
Beyond automotive, convergence is also taking shape in aerospace. Avnu continues to define testing specifications and capabilities that can enable aerospace applications, leveraging standards like 802.1AS and 802.1Qav part of the Aerospace TSN profile. New components are being developed to ensure interoperability for time-critical aerospace applications, solidifying TSN as a viable solution in this emerging market.
A year of expansion
As we progress through 2025, Milan, TSN, and converged networking are set to redefine connectivity across industries. With significant advancements across Avnu’s Work Groups, the Alliance is positioned to accelerate innovation and reinforce its role as a leader in high-performance, reliable networking. As these trends take shape, Avnu will continue to set the standard for seamless and future-ready networking in 2025 and beyond.
